PLANO, Texas, January 18, 2005 - UGS, a leading global provider of product lifecycle management (PLM) software and services, today announced the official signing of Design Automation Associates Inc. (DAA) into the UGS Partner Program as a Sales Partner. DAA enters the program at the "Partner" level and becomes UGS' first reseller to specialize in selling NX™ Knowledge Fusion software and related services. Knowledge Fusion is the knowledge-based engineering (KBE) capability built into the core of UGS' NX digital product development software solution.

"After spending the past several years working closely with UGS to build world class KBE applications at Fortune 500 companies, DAA is delighted to strengthen its relationship through the UGS Partner Program," said John Lambert, president of DAA. "At DAA our vision has always been to create production ready KBE software systems that help manufacturers worldwide harness their domain knowledge to create the world's most innovative products. As a UGS Sales Partner focused on NX Knowledge Fusion, we will further broaden our ability to help more organizations benefit from this technology and continue to make that vision a reality."

DAA and its founders have a long history with UGS in using their knowledge-based expertise to develop custom solutions for a wide variety of clients that provided a clear competitive advantage. With an in-depth understanding of the development, application and implementation of KBE technology, DAA will immediately add significant value to any company trying to fully leverage their own in-house product development expertise. "The Knowledge Fusion capability integrated into UGS' NX software has long been regarded as the industry's best implementation of KBE technology in a leading digital product development solution," said Stephen Brown, UGS vice president of Indirect Channels for the Americas. "DAA has been a major contributor to the development, support and implementation of this technology, and as our first Sales Partner focused on Knowledge Fusion they will play an even larger role in helping our mutual customers realize the incredible benefits of this world-class technology."

As a Sales Partner, Design Automation Associates will focus on supporting North America, working with the UGS Partner network as well as the direct sales force to continue making UGS, NX, and NX Knowledge Fusion the world class KBE leader.
