KBE Software Overview

Knowledge Based Engineering refers to a specific language class. KBE languages have the ability to dynamically create geometric parts, assemblies and geometric topology. KBE languages have no need to use pre-constructed or pre-conceived geometric models. KBE models dynamically generate all required geometry and drawings, as a result, geometric topology often entirely changes between model executions.

KBE languages also have the full capability to process complex non-geometric logic, decision making, optimization (geometric and non-geometric based), data manipulation, database integration, as well as the execution and coordination of external programs. KBE can accomplish these tasks in a much more flexible and efficient manner than even the most advanced languages such as C++, VB, Expert Systems or spreadsheets.

To facilitate the development of your custom KBE application, Design Automation Associates has also developed the SamePage™ system. This web-enabled system enables all people associated with a development effort to easily communicate together to achieve success with the application.

DAA has also developed a custom tool, WebDTO™, to web enable your application, allowing access for engineers, sales people, and even customers.

KBE can be defined as solutions that capture the engineering knowledge for defined tasks, which would normally reside in the brains of engineers, and translating that knowledge into software code that can then:
  • Automate the design of   parts or systems
  • Generate 2D/3D CAD   drawings
  • Create costed or   priced BOMs
  • Be used to decrease   design cycle times
  • Decrease sales cycle   times
  • Decrease the need for   application   engineering
